Tutorial - Configuration - Time Sentry

Since Punch Clock has the ability to run as a networked application, there is the possibility that users can change the time on the network workstations in an attempt to fradulently manipulate the punch in/out times.  Our solution to this problem is our Time Sentry.

From the admin console, click on Maintenance and then on Time Sentry.  The Time Sentry screen will appear.

This is the Time Sentry status screen.  This explains how the time Sentry works, and shows you whether or not this workstation is currently running as a Time Sentry.

The highlighted section above illustrates the status of this particular workstation.  In this particular case, it is not currently a Time Sentry.

This button allows you to activate this workstation as a Time Sentry.

If for some reason someone sets the time AHEAD and the date in the Time Sentry configuration is incorrect, and administrator can easily fix this by clicking the FIX SENTRY TIME button.  NOTE:  The time on the errant workstation must be fixed or the time will become askew again once someone tries to use it to Punch In/Out.

This is the screen if this machine is already designated as a Time Sentry.

As you can see, the system now indicates this Workstation is a Time Sentry.

The button changes to allow you to deactivate the Time Sentry on this machine.

Finally, if a Workstation is designated as a Time Sentry, then the title of the main Punch Clock window will reflect it by adding the letters "TS" after the version number.  This way, an administrator can tell at a glance if this machine is a Time Sentry without the need to go into the configuration to check.
