How do I configure Punch Clock to require a password?

One of the features of Punch Clock is the ability to require employees to enter a password while punching in.  This is often used as a deterrent to "buddy punching".

In order to configure Punch Clock to work in this fashion, there are a couple of configuration options to set.

First, start Punch Clock and enter the Admin Console.  Click on Maintenance->Program Configuration.  You should see something like this:

Program Configuration

Click on the setting named "Masked Punch In" and click "EDIT".

Masked Punch In Settings

There are 3 settings for this configuration.  NORMAL is the default setting, where users just pick thier name from a list to Punch In.  STEALTH is the same, but requires a password to be provided.  MASKED doesnt present a list, but requires the employee to enter his ID number to Punch In.

For our purposes, we will select STEALTH.  Choose STEALTH from the dropdown, and click "Save".

We aren't done yet.  We have one more setting to make before this functionality is complete.

You should now be back at the "Settings Table".  At the top, hit the drop-down next to "Settings Category and choose "Security Settings".  It should look like this:

Security Settings

Click on the "Employee Passwords" setting and click "Edit".  The screen should look like this:

Employee Passwords

There are again 3 options that can be used for this setting.  EMPNO requires the users to use their Employee ID number as their password.  PASSWORD requires them to use the password defined in the edit employee screen.  SOCIAL requires them to use their Social Security number as their password.

Since we are looking to use the "Password" field, select PASSWORD in the dropdown and click "Save".

That's it.  Punch Clock will now require that the employee use his/her password when Punching In/Out.
